SIMON SEBBAG
Born in Casablanca and raised in Israel Simon Sebbag earned an engineering degree from Ben Gurion University. In1983, he realised that engineering was leaving him unfulfilled.
On a contemplative trip to Paris he noticed this woamn walking out of a phone booth. She was removing her earring and pinching her ear.
He stopped her and asked her why. After their discussion he began to think of how he could produce sophisticated yet comfortable and lightweight jewelry.
Simon wasted no time in moving to the US and launching his jewelry designing career. His technical design training helped him envision unusual material combinations and shapes, as well as helping him to understand production processes and select the best ones for his designs.
Every Simon Sebbag piece is crafted from Sterling, some are finished with 24kt gold, or two-toned silver and gold, and accented with semi-precious stones or leather.
All are produced by electroforming, in which a wax mold is created and metalized to produce a conductive surface. The mold is then coated with several layers of Sterling silver. Th result is a light weight piece that holds its shape.
Simon takes his inspiration from geometric shapes. His contemporary looking designs are most suited to smaller specialty stores and boutiques.
